Have a “micey” nice day!

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Do you ever buy a stamp/stamp set because it is cute but you don’t necessarily know how, or for what occasion, you might use it? I confess I have a few in my collection which fall into this category. I like to think I give my stamp selection a little more consideration these days but sometimes you just *have* to get that cute stamp. Today’s card features a stamp which I think is totally adorable but I really didn’t think about how I might use it when I purchased it. It’s another adorable stamp from Penny Black. They have some of the best stamps to colour!

After I had finished colouring the image, I really didn’t know how to finish the card. What sentiment fits? What colour scheme? I thought of going with pastel blues, then neutral colours, pastel yellows and even the same colour as the mice. I pushed around quite a bit of paper and even toyed with creating my own background. Anyway, I do think any of the combinations would have been quite nice but when I stumbled across the background paper below I really just wanted to use it. It has such pretty colours. For the sentiment, the greeting actually says “Have a “micey” nice birthday!”. It didn’t fit so I simply masked the stamp to remove the “birth” from birthday to make it more generic. I added lots of the little bubbles to the background paper to add a little interest. Quite happy with the end result.

Have a "micey" nice birthday! Materials used: Stamps - Bubbles 'n Squeak 1684K, Have a 'Micey" Nice Birthday! 1666E (Penny Black); Cardstock - American Crafts, Knights; Designer Paper - Sweet Wishes Paper Stack (Australian Papercraft Essentials); Distress Markers (Ranger); and Distress Stickles - Star Dust (Ranger).

Darling, cute, smile-making, day-brightening, happy-dance sparking! And that’s just a start! Those mice, your colouring, the background paper = swoooon!!! LOVE it; in fact, I think this is one of my favourites from you. Oh, wait! Allll your cards are my favourites! Kylie, you are so talented and creative! I want to ‘market’ you so everyone can marvel over your cards with me!. Soooo…Festive Friday has a new challenge, that I’m POSITIVE you have stamps for; then there’s Freshly Made Sketches (little mousie faces peeking through circles…just an idea!), Paper Smooches, of course, and…hmmm…how about Simon Says Wednesday Challenge, which is monochromatic this week. You would amaze, astound, impress and inspire in any and all! Yikes, I’m nagging and pressuring, and will cease immediately! It’s just that you’re so fabulous!!!! Enjoy your day! Looking forward to the next does of darling-ness!!

lol You so make me laugh, C, with your delightful comments! How I wish I could write like you do! Thank you soooo much for your encouragement and your suggestions too. I will have to go and check out all those sites. How funny that you mentioned the little micey faces peeking through circles – I thought the same thing the other day (partly because I dropped a punched out piece of paper on top of the card! haha). You are such a wonderful and supportive person, C! Thank you so very very much! 🙂
