Happy Birthday Mum

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Tomorrow (October 5) is the birthday of my sweet and beautiful Mum! As soon as I saw the Penny Black stamp ‘Sew Much Fun’ (sadly no longer available) sitting on my shelf I knew it would be the *perfect* stamp for Mum’s card. I had also come across the DCWV paper pack “Sweet Tangerine” which is gorgeous and had a hexagon pattern which looks like a patchwork quilt. Both were perfect for Mum as she loves sewing and has created many gorgeous things over the years.

The background of the card might look a little odd as I decided to shift the panel. I used un-du to lift up the adhesive and it hasn’t quite dried again. I had to take the photo now though since I need to give the card to Mum tomorrow. There’s nothing like leaving things to the last minute. lol I also paper pieced the “fabric” being sewn just to be a little different.

Onto the card:

Happy Birthday Mum! Materials used: Stamps - Sew Much Fun 1650L (Penny Black), Salutations (Paper Smooches); 12x12 Paper Stack - Sweet Tangerine (DCWV) and Copic Markers.

Happy Birthday Mum!

I’ve kept it really simple on the inside – the stamped greeting and some of the patterned paper with plenty of room to write too.

Happy Birthday Mum! Materials used: Stamps - Salutations (Paper Smooches); and 12x12 Paper Stack - Sweet Tangerine (DCWV).

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Hope you have a fantastic day!

Happy Stamping!

Sweet Kylie – we just arrived at my parents – after getting up at 5am to head to a bike race in a town half-way between home and my folks’ – and I HAD to parachute in to say: I miss you!! Hope all is well and that your creative beauties will appear soon! I’m off to make supper (dining late, as usual), but know that I’m thinking of you! HAPPY THANKSGIVING, my friend. Hugs ~ c

Happy Thanksgiving, Carol! Hope you have a wonderful, wonderful, fabulous, amazing and happy time with your family. I’ll take this opportunity to say how thankful I am for you. You and Bev are my “online” rocks! Would be lost without you! Thank you so much for checking in on me too. It means the world! hugs!

Ok…I’ll echo everything Carol said, then add my own two cents. As a mum myself, if my daughter made me something this wonderful, I spend the day alternately grinning and crying (the happy kind!). Such a sweet image. I’m sure your mum will love this, and once again, your coloring is stunning. Love the ‘fabric’ swatch, and the quilted corner inside. You’re the bomb! xo

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Kylie’s mom!! You sound very much like my mom, who is a most crafty person, be it sewing, knitting, crocheting and all around ‘making stuff.’ Oh, and ‘baking for a cause’ – pies, cakes, bread and cookies – for the various bake sales that take place several times a year at the neighbourhood care home where she volunteers. If you and my mom were to meet, I can just imagine the air would be buzzing with your combined crafty energy!! Hope your celebration is (was) wonderful! I know you’re an amazing person, because your daughter is! She is a gem…
Kylie, your ‘made-with-love-for-mom’ card is darling and sooooo personal in speaking to (“visualizing to”??) her love for sewing. Those mice are darling, especially the one delicately balancing on the machine’s wheel! Hmmm…if wee cute mousies like this were around to help me, I might even take up sewing! Can’t sew a stitch (well, buttons, I can do!), so I save things up to bring to my mom when we visit. Love chatting with her while she repairs, creates…and over all helps out her ‘all thumbs’ daughter! You’re an awesome daughter to your awesome mom!!
Hugs,
c

Thank you, thank you, thank you C! You are just one of the sweetest people I have ever “met”. I’m no good with sewing. When I was 12 I managed to run my finger through the sewing machine and the needle broke off in my fingernail. Tend to leave all sewing things to my Mum and sister now. haha You give me the warm fuzzies with your ever so kind comments, Carol. It is very much appreciated – much more than I could ever say here! hugs!
