Quick and Easy Cards (KaiserCraft)

Hi Everyone,

If you have been following me for any length of time you would know that I sometimes (!) create rather fussy scene cards which take…a while…to complete. lol I *love* creating cards like this but occasionally I like to try other things including making quick and easy cards. Today I am sharing two cards which use Captured Moments cards from KaiserCraft (similar to Project Life cards). Unfortunately, I cannot tell you which set the cards come from as they were only packaged in plastic with no name on them. Such a shame as they are just gorgeous! Anyway, here are two super quick and easy cards which I really must try and replicate as I had forgotten just how much I love them. Hope you like them too. I hope they inspire you to use your Captured Moments/Project Life cards in a different way.

Baby Cards Kaiser Craft

Hi Everyone,

A quick post today. I was going through some photographs and came across the card I had made for a friend after the birth of her son. It is completely different from my usual style as it is completely made with die cuts – no stamping at all (although I did ink up the sky). I love it. I sometimes find myself buying die cuts with the idea of using them on scrapbook layouts or cards but they just sit there. This card is inspiring me to get them out and USE them! If you are like me, I hope this card inspires you to use your die cuts too!

Cards Kaiser Craft Stamping

Friends are the Sunshine of Life (KaiserCraft)

Hi Everyone,

For a while there I thought this card would never see the light of day. If something could go wrong, it did! The original design concept came together effortlessly but the actual execution – yeah, not so effortless! lol I got ink on my fingernails when inking up the stamp which I transferred onto the card, then I got ink onto the block which I also transferred onto the card. I ruined my masking (there’s a lot of masking!) and ended up with blue and green ink on my pretty pink flowers. The stamps are acrylic (which, to be honest, I’m not a fan of – I prefer photopolymer.) and so they can be quite squishy when you stamp and don’t necessarily hold their shape perfectly so I had some imperfect stamping. Finally, after the fourth (!) start, I managed to get through to the end and I must say I am pretty please with the card. I’m totally loving the bright colours – they’re so happy and fun!

Materials used: Stamps – Fly Free (KaiserCraft); Dies – Die-namics Blueprints 13 (MFT), Triplits – Banners (Sizzix); Cardstock – Knights Smooth, Unknown; Distress Inks, Copic Markers, Rhinestones (KaiserCraft) and Wink of Stella.

TIP: I usually recommend colouring the item that you have the most difficulty with first so that you don’t ruin your project after a lot of work if it doesn’t go well. Unfortunately, I didn’t follow my own advice with this card (mainly because I just love colouring those gorgeous flowers) and ended up with the bird as the final part of the card to colour. What I did was stamp up the image a number of times on a separate sheet of cardstock and then tried a number of colour combinations. I roughly trimmed out the image so I could put it on top of my card and get a true idea of how it would look. When I found one I liked, I was then able to finish my card in a way I was happy with. Cards Kaiser Craft Stamping

You Make Me Smile (KaiserCraft)

Hi Everyone,

I *had* to pop into the KaiserCraft warehouse last week because…well, I was in the area. lol Whilst there I picked up the Fly Free stamp set as I had an idea for using the birds in the set. I thought the butterflies would be fun to use too. Skip to today, and I haven’t used the birds or the butterflies but I have used the flower which also came in the set. I stamped it out just to see what it was like. I scribbled some colour onto it and I *loved* how it looked. Next thing you know I have four cards to share – all have started with the same base but they are all finished differently. I *love* stamps! Just think how many different cards you can make using this stamp. I haven’t even ventured into using different colours (colouring mediums, techniques, papers, cardstock, etc) on the flowers so the possibilities for this stamp set seem endless.

With card three, I had the idea of adding ribbon across the panel but I didn’t have the perfect match. Went looking through the stash and found some older Mrs Grossman Design Lines stickers – perfect!

Cards Kaiser Craft Thank You

Hi Everyone,

I am still totally crushing on the Stained Glass die from KaiserCraft that I used yesterday. Yesterday, I used the cut out shape as a stencil and sponged over the top using Hero Arts Shadow Inks. After I had finished the sponging the image, I put the stencil to the side to finish creating the card. A bit later I picked up the stencil with the idea of throwing it away, but oh wow, the colours had smoothed and looked so very pretty. I decided to finish colouring in the shape. After I had finished I really wasn’t sure what I was going to do – and then the ideas hit! So, today, I have four very similar cards which I totally love.

Here’s the first card…

Then I thought it might be fun to move the sentiment into the centre of the card.

And there are four quick and simple cards! Can you imagine just how many different looks you could make with this die? Use different colours, patterned papers, trim parts of the die cut away, stencilling…oh wow, so many ideas! I love it when dies (and stamp sets) offer so many different ways to use them.

Cards Kaiser Craft

Hello (KaiserCraft)

Hi Everyone,

Just a couple of super simple cards to share today. I went to a Quilt Show with my Mum yesterday and afterwards we decided to head to Spotlight to see what sort of quilting things they had. (She’s interesting in quilting; I’m sticking with papercrafting!). Unfortunately, we didn’t see anything for her but we did see a couple of things of interest to me…uh oh! lol The Stained Glass die by KaiserCraft jumped out at me and straight into my basket! When I got home I decided to use it as a stencil and I love the effect.

Here’s card one…

Materials used: Stamps – A Little Sentimental (Clearly Besotted), Cherry Blossom (KaiserCraft); Cardstock – American Crafts; Dies – Stained Glass (KaiserCraft), Project Life (Becky Higgins); Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Hero Arts).

Whilst I really like the simplicity of the above card, I did wonder how it might look if I stepped it up a notch or two.

Hello, How are you?
Materials used: Stamps – A Little Sentimental (Clearly Besotted), Cherry Blossom (KaiserCraft); Cardstock – American Crafts; Dies – Stained Glass (KaiserCraft), Project Life (Becky Higgins); Rhinestones (KaiserCrafts); and Hero Arts Shadow Inks (Hero Arts).

I like the extra bit of pizazz on the second but really I do like them both. I ended up using my MISTI tool to stamp out the sentiment on the second card. I used textured cardstock for both cards and the sentiment didn’t quite stamp completely for the first one. I used a black marker to colour in any spots. For the second card, I used the MISTI and it was so easy to re-stamp the image in exactly the right place ensuring complete coverage!

I’m still playing with the die this afternoon so you can expect to see another couple of cards using it very soon.

Cards Kaiser Craft Penny Black Stamping Winnie & Walter

Hello, I Love You

Hi Everyone,

Does this ever happen to you? You have ideas flowing through your mind on how to use a particular stamp but when you sit down to turn them into reality, you just cannot get them to work? It happened to me yesterday/today. I just couldn’t get the ideas in my head to work out on paper. I tried a few times and eventually decided it was time to walk away and try something else. Will tackle the project another day.

On my desk I still had one stamped and coloured image of the hedgehog from the “Paint the Town” set by Penny Black, Thought I might as well make it into a finished card and let me tell you, I *love* how this card, and the following one, turned out. A great feeling after my earlier creative issues. lol I had recently purchased the Love Quarters template from KaiserCraft and had been dying to use them. Seemed like the perfect time to do so.

As I wasn’t really sure of my colour choices I ended up making another card at the same time but this time I kept it even more simple using word stamps from Winnie & Walter.

Cards Kaiser Craft The Greeting Farm

So Many of My Smiles…(TGF/KaiserCraft)

Hi Everyone,

I had a break from my blog enforced by Mother Nature. We’ve been in the middle of a rather warm patch and then we had a bit of wild weather which resulted in my power being off for the better part of two days. Turns out that crafting in the dark is not easy, who’da thunk?! lol Also turns out that I *love* air-conditioning! A LOT! lol In typical Melbourne fashion we have gone from hot, hot, hot weather with a fierce storm only yesterday to a cold dreary day today when I’m (almost) tempted to put the heater on. Ah, Melbourne, how I love thee!

Before I lost power for two days I did have another card waiting in the wings featuring the lovely “Honey” from The Greeting Farm. Once again, I opted for the cute look so covered up the little skull in her hair ribbon. I also decided to play around with her hair colour a little bit too. I didn’t have three colours which worked beautifully together but I made do. I’m quite happy with it but I do think I need to go shopping. 😉 lol I’ve also stayed away from the “typical Kylie” card again which is a bit of fun.

Cards Christmas Kaiser Craft Penny Black Stamping

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas

Hi Everyone,

I have just finished making some Christmas cards so thought I would share them. I had a blast colouring in the gorgeous Penny Black image. (Unfortunately, it would seem this image has been discontinued although I am convinced I have seen it as part of a T for Transparent set. If I find it again, I will link it here). It’s possible I made the card a little more complicated than it needed to be. Was fun though. 🙂 The gold spots on the background, and the wink of stella on the ribbon shimmer so beautifully. The glossy accents on the berries finish it off so prettily. Wish the photograph could capture just how pretty the card is.

I missed my own blogging birthday! lol That’s a bit funny. Turns out that I have been online for one year as at the 21st April. I cannot believe I missed it.

In celebration I have a little giveaway. Woohoo! I picked up a couple of stamp sets from KaiserCraft today and I would like to send them to someone to celebrate. First Birthday Giveaway

I’ve done a little creating lately. Mostly it has consisted of stamping and colouring and stamping and colouring some more. I’ve been enjoying the process and haven’t really finished anything. Sometimes I just like to colour.

I did pick up a couple of decoupage card kits from Spotlight during the week and passed a few pleasant hours putting them together. I ended up with 7 cards (4 different designs). They are super cute and they made me think – there is no reason why I couldn’t apply the same idea to my own stamping. I’m no stranger to popping up the odd embellishment or layer so why not pick out a feature of the stamp and do the same? Something to think about.
