Keeping It Simple

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Today was a bludge day, I cannot deny. I had grand plans to do many things. In the end, I snuggled inside and watched a film, cuddled my dog, chatted with friends and stamped. It was great!

For my cards today, I decided to go simple – it’s not something I usually do. I’m thinking I might like to do something like this again. Perhaps forgo the ribbon and just leave it very, very plain. I’d also use a higher quality cardstock, maybe with a linen finish, so that it had a really polished appearance. I think the cardstock you use is of even more importance when there is so much white space.

Card One:
Isn’t this cat from Penny Black adorable! It isn’t available any more which is such a shame. How cute would this image be on a tag? I think it would also look good with glossy accents on the balloon.

Happy Birthday Materials used: Stamps - Celebrating 1472E, Salutations 30-014; Cardstock - Knights; Distress Markers; Tombow Dual Brush Marker; and Ribbon (American Crafts).

Card Two:
Another Penny Black stamp which is, unfortunately, no longer available. It’s just too cute! I’d love some tips on how to do the glow from the flames a little better though. I also just realised that the ribbon is crooked. Oh no! Will have to fix that.

Happy Birthday Materials used: Stamps - Birthday Dog 2078H, Salutations 30-014; Cardstock - Knights; Distress Markers; Tombow Dual Brush Marker; and Ribbon (American Crafts).

Kylie ~ I discovered your site, through Bev (isn’t she awesome!!), and I haven’t had a chance to parachute in with comments until today! Let’s just say, I was awed by your creations at first glance, and second, and third…Your creativity is amazing; your ability to combine images stellar, and your colouring stunning. These two little ‘works of art’ are sheer delight! So glad to have *found you* – thank you Bev – and I’ll be back for sure!!

Two more sweet cards, Kylie. Your mad coloring skills continue to amaze me. I couldn’t color like that if my life depended on it! Love the sweet little kitty, and the birthday pup too. Great shading on the card base too-sweetly subtle. Very cute.
