Hello (Mama Elephant)

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

It never ceases to amaze me as to where ideas can come from. The idea behind this card actually came from the “Surf and Turf” set by Paper Smooches. I had the set out to make a little seascape. In fact, I had actually roughed out a little scene but it didn’t really look right. In a little fit of pique, I stamped the log image in a row and, to quote Bev, *PING* an idea was born – the ADORABLE little munchkins from the Mama Elephant set “In My Heart” would look so cute climbing on the logs in the playground…so I set about trying to make that idea happen. This meant another quick visit to the Mama Elephant site to get the “Tree Friends” set so I could have a couple of lovely trees to frame the logs. (Yes, I *had* to get a new stamp set…the sacrifices one must make for their art! haha) This gorgeous set comes with a tree stump so my idea changed gears a little but I am actually really thrilled with how this card turned out. I didn’t do anything fussy at all – straight colouring and bam, done!

Here’s the card…

Hello Materials used: Stamps - In My Heart, Tree Friends (Mama Elephant); Dies - Die-Namics Blueprints 5 (My Favourite Things); Distress Inks; Distress Markers; and Wink of Stella.

Hello
Materials used: Stamps – In My Heart, Tree Friends (Mama Elephant); Dies – Die-Namics Blueprints 5 (My Favourite Things); Distress Inks; Distress Markers; and Wink of Stella.

It was suggested to me that I only needed one tree so I might give it another go and see how it looks with just the one. I’m also now crushing on the Ripe Persimmon Distress Marker. Such a gorgeous shade. lol

Thanks for stopping by! Hope you are all having a super creative day!

Happy Stamping!

Goodness, Kylie, I’ve fallen behind in commenting AGAIN! Between bike races (three day affairs last weekend and again this…yeesh!) and ‘stuff’ I need 30 hours in a day! I’ll echo the others: this is a rootin’, tootin’ awesome, charming, delightful, innovative and gosh-darn FABULOUS card! You must, must and must let the ME people see this so they’ll see the magic you’re working with their stamps! AND they’ll be racing to invite you to join their DT! Your abundant talent and ME = a perfect match (actually, the same goes for you and PS!!). Darling card! That little guy is so like my nephew. Rocks, tree stumps, sidewalk edges…you name, he hops and skips on it (with Aunty C holding her breath that he doesn’t fall!). LOVE this oodles, my dear friend!!
Hugs~c

I think you must be the energiser bunny, C! I don’t know how you manage to get around to all of the blogs, bike rides, family stuff, create AMAZING cards and still have enough energy to write such meaningful, and most appreciated comments. You’re an angel! Thank you for your lovely, lovely words. I love that this card also gives you happy memories of your nephew. That’s very special. 🙂 Thank you! hugs!

Mama Elephant is having a guest designer search on their FB page! You’ve got to enter!!! They’re giving brownie points for linking to one of your ME creations, and this would be a great one to link to. 😀

Hey girly! Thanks for the shout-out! Me?, I’m totally crushing on your card, and the whole brilliant idea for it!!!! At our local zoo on the new playground, there are actually things like stumps for the kids to hop on; just like your little guy is doing! You really need to put this in the ME gallery, or link it up somehow to them; they are going to go ga-ga over this. Seriously!! Make sure they see it!! It’s just wonderful, and buying new stamps is a necessity in our line, lol! I’m feeling the need for some new ones even as we speak….lol!! This is wonderful, Kylie. Love it. : )

Hi Bev, you’re welcome! Credit where credit is due – the idea came from you. 🙂 I’m so glad you could get where I was coming from with this card, I wasn’t sure I was explaining it very well. I have put it in their flickr group and linked to them on instagram…. Oh, yes, shopping is part of the fun. haha Enjoy your little splurge. 🙂 hugs!

I really wish I could “like” this card. Only change that to LOVE, because it’s gorgeous and so creative! I love, love, LOVE your choice of colors. And the idea of the little boy jumping around stumps? Genius! I’m completely wowed.

I’ve also realized now that I better get that tree stamp set. I’ve had it on my wish list for ages, but I keep forgetting to buy it… Also, agreed on Ripe Persimmon. I keep reaching for it. It’s so bright and lovely. 🙂

Elle! Thank you so much!! What a wonderful compliment!! I’m chuffed!! 😀 Oh I am sooo glad I got that tree set. It’s just gorgeous! I hadn’t realised when I ordered it that it had the flowers and when it arrived I was disappointed for all of three seconds but now I am LOVING it! And woohoo for the Ripe Persimmon. Wish I had discovered it earlier! 😀
