Saturday Morning Splurge

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Yay for the weekend! I had an early start to the day as I *needed* to do my grocery shopping. I also popped into Kmart and they have a new, to me, range of scrapbooking supplies. They were, shall we say, rather inexpensive so I had a little splurge – paper packs, stickers, a new craft mat and a stamp set. Yay! They had a lot of other products on offer but these are the ones which struck my fancy today.

Guess what I will be playing with later today? 🙂

Update: And play I did and now I have two simple little birthday cards to add to the stash.

Card One: Hmm…now that I am looking at the card again, I’m thinking it might have been nice to draw white lines on the top patterned paper. Also, the greeting might have looked good stamped on vellum so you could see the patterned paper through it. lol I guess it is nice to have new ideas for old designs.

Happy Birthday Materials used: Stamps, Designer Paper, Stickers (Creativ); Cardstock - Knight, Club Scrap; and Eyelets (Unknown).

Card Two: This was supposed to be a portrait card but somehow it didn’t end up that way, and the stripey paper I had chosen somehow didn’t end up on the card at all. I like this card but I am unsure about that star. Looks a bit odd now. I had three scattered over it originally, and one of them was yellow to tie into the colours of the robot, but they made the card look much too busy which is how it ended up with just the one.

Saw your stash–nice!! Always fun to find new goodies. Our KMart doesn’t carry any paper crafting supplies. And I love how both cards turned out. The single star on the right gives the card just the right amount of balance. Very cute little robots. These are perfect for little boys’ birthdays. Sweet.

Thanks, Bev! 🙂 So appreciate your feedback and comments. I wasn’t sure about that star. Think I will leave it though. 🙂

I was just looking at the back of the packaging and it seems that all of these products are made for Kmart Australia. Looks like I have been sharing things that aren’t available overseas. Sorry!

WOW – Big score on the shopping splurge! I see some yummy looking paper (I love love love patterned paper! in that pile, along with cute stamps. When the prices are ‘right,’ the splurge just *has* to happen! Both your cards are darling! The robots, the papers, the layouts, the embellishments – winning combinations! As for the single star on the second one: perfect!
I’m going to do some ‘on line’ window-shopping later today. No K-marts here, but Simon Says is a pretty good alternative…
Enjoy your Saturday! It’s a long weekend here in Canada…yayyyy!!

I was so surprised to see all the new supplies, it was amazing! The 6×6 paper packs (24 sheets; 12 x 2 designs) were only A$2 each! I decided that even if I threw half of them away because I didn’t like them for some reason it was still a good deal! I have decided though that I might need to get some robot stamps now because I think they look so cute. Might be joining you with the online window shopping! 🙂

Enjoy your long weekend! Woohoo!
