Clearly Besotted Gorjuss Lawn Fawn Stamping

Hi Everyone,

Today I have three cards to share using the Gorjuss stamp set Toadstools. I have had so many ideas buzzing through my head for this set but I’ve decided to limit it (for now!) to three cards. For this series, I have essentially used the same card design but I’ve switched up the colour schemes for each. I think this card set illustrates that simply by changing the colour palette you use, without even changing the design too much, you can end up with a completely different feel. Imagine how many different card looks you can get when you switch up the design as well?! I totally love how versatile stamps are!

For my first card, I had been playing around with the blues and greys on her outfit which prompted me to put her in a winter scene.

I decided then to add a bit more colour and a dark night sky was born along with rich green rolling hills. Love the colours of the background.

For the final card, I realised I had yet to use the little critter and the toadstools from the set. Of course that had to be remedied immediately. The toadstools are super cute. I had been tempted to go with a darker colour palette but eventually decided on more of a spring time theme.

Cards Lawn Fawn Stamping The Greeting Farm

You Make Me Smile (The Greeting Farm/TGF)

Hi Everyone,

My fun with The Greeting Farm’s stamps continues! Today I’m sharing the last of the cards I have created using “Lavender”. I think I’ve saved the best until last. This card is certainly my favourite.

For this card, I decided to go with the “sweet” Lavender look so covered up the skull with a little enamel dot. I didn’t have a dot which matched the card so just coloured over it with my copic markers. Voila! Now it matches! There’s nothing too complicated about this card – it’s just a sweet little card.

Cards Christmas Lawn Fawn Paper Smooches Stamping

Evolution of a Christmas card (continued)

Continuing on from yesterday’s post regarding the evolution of my Christmas card for this year, I am sharing two more of the “not quite right” designs I was playing with before I arrived at my final idea.

I had decided it might be fun to create more of a scene for the dog (Penny Black’s Xmas treat!) and the idea of using acetate popped into my card. I thought how fun it would be to have the greeting peek through from the inside layer. And then I thought maybe I should use snowmen. The reasons this card didn’t work for me – the trees were too short and there really wasn’t anywhere for me to write (although I suppose I could have written on the back of the card).

Materials used: Stamps – Autumn Groves, Freezy Fellas, Merry Motifs, Swanky Snowdudes (Paper Smooches); Dies – Stitched Hillside Borders (Lawn Fawn), Clearly Creative Cuts – Landscape Trio (Mama Elephant); Acetate, Cardstock – American Crafts, Knights; Copic Makers and Wink of Stella.

Deciding I needed to use taller trees (and preferably from a stamp set for which I had the matching dies!), I switched over to the Joy to the Wood stamp set by Lawn Fawn. I wasn’t quite ready to give up on the acetate idea either but I really didn’t like all the glue showing on the inside. I went to so far as to cover most of the back with white paper. WAY too much work for a card I need to reproduce multiple times. I stayed with the snowman idea too.

So, there are two more of the cards which lead me to the design I used for this years card. lol I hope you enjoyed seeing some of my thought processes.

Christmas Lawn Fawn Paper Smooches Penny Black Stamping

Merry Christmas (Penny Black)

Hi Everyone,

Merry Christmas! I have finally finished my Christmas card creating for this year. Whilst it took me only a couple of minutes to choose the gorgeous Xmas Treat! Stamp from Penny Black to use on my card this year, it took me AGES to work out how I would like to use it. I have more than a few samples strewn across my desk! I finally settled on the design below and I am mostly very happy with it. It is rather plain and deceptively so because there is actually quite a lot of work involved. Loved every minute of it though, I must confess!

Cards Competition Entry Lawn Fawn Stamping

It moose be love (Lawn Fawn)

Hi Everyone,

A few days ago my sweet friend Bev emailed to tell me there was a challenge which was right up my alley and that I must enter. The challenge in question was “Critters Galore” at the Lawnscaping Challenge blog. Bev was right – this is right up my alley. I haven’t entered a Lawnscaping Challenge before but I can’t help but jump right in. I have so many ideas for this challenge because, as you all know, I love creating with Lawn Fawn stamps, especially their critters.

Lawnscaping Challenge No. 90 – Critters Galore

My card uses the sweet moose from the Critters in the Arctic set. I thought he’d look cute in the winter wonderland. He needs a little friend but my reverse image stamping ability is not the best. So let’s just imagine that he’s thinking of his sweetheart. lol

Lawn Fawn Stamping

Thinking of You (Lawn Fawn)

Hi Everyone,

It seems I can’t quite keep away from Lawn Fawn’s new winter releases. Today I have been playing with the Joy to the Woods set. As soon as I saw it I knew I wanted to create a little woodland scene with those stunning birch trees. I coloured the trees with copic markers and put a layer of glossy accents over the top. I love how this looks. The only aspect I had a little trouble with was the sentiment. I was tempted to leave it blank before deciding on a speech bubble from the Chit Chat set. Part of me thinks I should have left it without the sentiment but…what’s done is done. I sprayed the background paper with some “Mister Huey’s Colour Mists” in Opaque White as I wanted to have a more subtle look of falling snow. I love the effect! Oh and how darling are the little “paw prints in the snow”?! What a clever stamp to have included in the set.

I really do love the background with the trees so I have started making up another card using the same basic background setting. I love making little scene cards like this so watch out for this card…hopefully I’ll post it tomorrow.
