Hi Everyone,
Have I ever mentioned how much I love colouring? No? Only every other blog post, right? lol I really do. I may have a long way to go but by the same token I have come a long way too. One stamp company I discovered early on in my stamping adventure which had WONDERFUL images for colouring was Penny Black. I loved them way back then and I love them now, especially their cute critters – the hedgehogs, the dogs and the cats…oh and those mice too. (As an aside, if you are not familiar with them, Penny Black rubber stamps range is not limited to their cute critters – they cater to pretty much every style and genre. They are amazing!)
Anyway…I received My Favourite Things new Hybrid Ink Pad in Black Licorice in the mail this week and I have been dying to try it out. Did it really allow you to use water colours AND alcohol based markers? I had to try! And using Penny Black’s Sunny Days stamp set seemed like a great place to start as they have such wonderful images to colour. As Father’s Day is in a couple of weeks I’ve been thinking about making some more masculine cards and this set certainly caters to this theme. I chose the little puppy who is fishing. Such a darling image!
I stamped the image twice using the Black Licorice Hybrid ink. I decided to start with my Distress Markers and water coloured the image. Looks good! No blurry, running ink. Very happy with the finish.
Here’s the card…

Enjoy your day!
Materials used: Stamps – Sunny Days (Penny Black); Distress Markers, Cardstock (American Crafts); Dies – Nestabilities Large Labels (Spellbinders), Custom Panels Die (Avery Elle) and Wink of Stella.
Next up, I decided to use my Copics and see how the ink reacted. And…completely fine! No bleeding or feathering at all.

Enjoy your day!
Materials used: Stamps – Sunny Days (Penny Black); Copic Markers, Cardstock (American Crafts); Designer Paper – Hey You! (Basic Grey); Dies – Nestabilities Large Labels (Spellbinders), Custom Panels Die (Avery Elle); Linen Thread (Stampin’ Up!); and Wink of Stella.
So the result is that I am a new fan of the Hybrid Ink by My Favourite Things! I love that I can stamp up an image twice (which I usually do anyway) and then colour away using whichever medium I prefer (and which can change on a whim! lol). It’s wonderful! I’ve got a repeat experiment underway just to make sure it wasn’t beginners luck. lol So far so good!
Hope you are all having a wonderful day!
Happy Stamping
