You’re Retro! (Penny Black)

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Here are the last two cards from my colour practice session from the weekend (refer here for details). Once again, I have used images from the super cute set “You’re Retro!” from Penny Black. The last critter image from this set is the bike riding cat. Talk about cute – and versatile too – would be great for masculine cards. Having said that, I’ve stayed with the same colour palette for these cards as I had used for the earlier cards. I’m kinda loving these colours. The cards are very simple but I quite like them.

The first card is my favourite of the two. I love the map pattern on the orange paper. Here’s the card…

Let the Good Times Roll Materials used: Stamps - You're Retro! (Penny Black); Cardstock - Doodlebug Design, Unknown; Designer Paper - Rise & Shine (Amy Tangerine/American Crafts); and Copic Markers.

The second card features the other half of my (somewhat failed) experiment with embossing paste (this post shows the first half). To achieve the effect I simply pressed the original work using embossing paste/distress spray against a clean sheet of cardstock. It doesn’t have the texture of the original but it certainly has the appearance of having texture which is almost as fun!

Here’s the card…

Live Life in the Fast Lane Materials used: Stamps - You're Retro! (Penny Black); Cardstock - Unknown; Designer Paper - Rise & Shine (Amy Tangerine/American Crafts); Copic Markers; Embossing Paste - Wendy Vecchi; Distress Spray - Tumbled Glass (Tim Holtz/Ranger).

Thank you for joining me on my attempt to make my colouring practices into finished cards. Tomorrow I have a couple of new cards featuring more Penny Black stamps.

Happy Stamping!

Tee hee…these images would be perfect for my husband (and a bunch of cyclists I know!). Yet more fun…and the snail…oh goodness! How cute is he (and if I were riding a bike, which I do rarely, because the thought of falling scares me, Mr. Snail would be well ahead!). Kylie, you need to post these somewhere for the PB people to see…you’ll be designing for them in no time! Yet more amazing…yet more sparkle added to my evening!
Hugs~c

I’m with you on that map paper. I love the way it fits your card’s theme, and how well it contrasts with the other colors you used. It brings that touch of warmth.

Love seeing your creations! I can’t wait to see what you’ll share next. 🙂
