Hello (Gorjuss)

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Hope you have all been having a happy and creative week. My week started off brilliantly as I had a “Behind the Scenes” experience at Healesville Sanctuary. I had seen on Facebook that dingo puppies had just arrived at the zoo and for a limited time they were offering “Puppy Playtime” sessions with the pups. I *had* to do it! After chatting with my sister, we decided to go together and to take our parents too. So I grabbed the phone and booked it in before it was too late.

We had an AMAZING day. It was the first time just the four of us had been out like this for years. As it was a Monday, most people were at work/school. The weather was a little average too which meant the sanctuary was pretty quiet which was a bonus for us. The highlight was definitely the playtime with the dingo puppies. I believe they have now gone on main display too.

Cute!

I haven’t been doing much on the creative front this week. This had to change! Armed with my distress markers and a paint brush I grabbed the gorgeous Gorjuss “The Fox” stamp set and painted away. Now that I have finished my card I realised the painted background combined with the Simon Says Stamp sentiment is very “Kristina Werner“. I ummed and aahed about sharing it but decided to go ahead. I’ve actually got another couple of the Gorjuss designs I’ve pre-coloured and still have to turn into cards.

Here’s the card…

Hello Materials used: Stamps - The Fox (Gorjuss); Handwritten Borders, Stinkin' Cute (Simon Says Stamp); Distress Inks, Distress Markers and Cardstock (American Crafts).

Before I comment: rush this card immediately into the Watercolour challenge at Craze for Challenges: http://micassucas.blogspot.ca/2014/08/challenge-51-watercolouring.html It’s a total fit! There’s another challenge: 101 Watercolour for you to keep an eye on, too…
Okay~what a fabulous opportunity for you and your family to get together and share a dingo-puppy play date! Those pups are darling!! I haven’t been to a zoo in quite a while (last year, in Edmonton, with the kiddos), so your photos have sparked a desire to check out the one in Calgary. Love baby animals; in fact, one of the cutest I’ve seen is a baby porcupine (this was a few years back), before his quills were all…quilly. Beyond adorable…and its porcupine squeaks…cuteness to the max! Speaking of things amazing: your card. I agree with Elle and Bev: your colouring and shading are spot-on stunning, and the wee heart adds that signature touch of yours that we know and love. You’ve ‘toned down’ the *gothic * (borrowing Elle’s description) with your wonderful style, and the end result is a card that is absolutely GORGEOUS! Beautiful showcase of your incredible talents once again!!
Hugs~c

Ooh a water colour challenge. I might look at making something new. Thanks, C! 🙂 It was an AMAZING experience. They are just gorgeous, Ohhh, baby porcupines are just darling. How lucky you were. Thank you so much, again, for your kindness. As always, appreciated beyond measure. 🙂

My word! This is just beautiful!!! Your coloring has me examining every aspect of your card in great detail. Stunning, my friend, stunning! And those little dingo pups!!!! How cute are they???!!!! Our local zoo (3 blocks south of me) just had 3 lion cubs, 2 boys and a girl. They’ve got a naming contest going on right now, and will announce their names when they’re ready to go to the exhibit. Anyway…gorgeous card. Find a challenge dear heart, and do more!!!!! : )

Thank you, Bev! You know how much your comments mean to me. Ooh, lion cubs!! How wonderful. There’s something to be said for baby animals. 🙂 big hugs!

I commented on FB already, but those dingo puppies are too adorable! What a wonderful opportunity you had at seeing them play. You’ve inspired me to keep an eye on our local zoo happenings. Maybe I’ll get lucky and nab a spot at their next event. 😀

I *adore* your card. I can see a little bit of Kristina’s influence, but I think it’s still more of the “Kylie” style we know and love. I do love her green dress. Your shading is perfectly spot-on! But my favorite part is the little pink heart. It just adds the right amount of “adorable” without being too sweet. Gorjuss stamps have this touch of gothic to them that makes really sweet elements feel out of place. But the little pink heart just fits.

I can’t wait to see the other ones! 🙂

Thanks, Elle, it was so amazing! Oh definitely keep an eye out on your local zoo. Our zoos always have so many things happening. In the past I’ve given my sister and her family a “Behind the Scenes” with giraffes and Australian animals. Next month they are doing another one with African cats. Will be amazing.

Thank you soooo much for your kind words. I’m glad you see more of *me* in my cards. I guess that’s the problem when we all seem to use the same materials/stamps, etc. There’s a danger that we end up creating similar things from time to time.

Would you believe I still haven’t turned those other two images into cards? Oops! Must get onto that. 🙂
