Reach for the sky (Lawn Fawn)

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Thanks for the nice comments regarding the view I have when I create from my last post. His name is Zac and he’s my 10 year old border collie. He doesn’t realise he’s 10 though as he still acts like a puppy. Love him to pieces.

I’ve been challenging myself to not get carried away with all the new products which are constantly being released onto the market. I *love* so many of the new products but I am finding that I am not using older products and some of them haven’t actually been used much, if at all. I’m trying to find the happy balance between old and new. lol Isn’t that the constant battle for the hobbyist?! Flipping through my Lawn Fawn stamps the other day I came across the Sunny Skies stamp set and realised I hadn’t used it in AGES and felt drawn to have a little play. As I always stamp up multiple images, I was able to create four cards. They are pretty similar but I’ll share them all below.

Here’s the first card…

Reach for the sky Materials used: Stamps - Sunny Skies (Lawn Fawn); Dies - Sunny Skies (Lawn Fawn), In & Out Diagonal Stitched Rectangle STAX (MFT); Cardstock - Knights Smooth, American Crafts; Designer Paper - Rise & Shine (Amy Tangerine/American Crafts), and Wink of Stella.

And the last card…

If you liked the above you might also be interested in a couple of the cards I made when I first received the stamp set (see this post). The older cards are of a similar design however instead of paper piecing they were painted with distress inks.

And I’ll finish my post with a picture of what is on my desk now…I’ve been having a BLAST colouring!

Now to make them into cards…or just keep colouring. lol Thanks for stopping by!

Not at all, Monika! I feel very touched that you have taken the time to visit and to write such warm and encouraging messages. They mean a lot to me. 🙂

Your four kite cards have me in a tizzy…I LOVE them! Something about kites speaks to the promise of freedom, of soaring, of reaching new heights (look at me…getting all English teacher-y!), but you know what I mean! Net result: I’m gazing in awe and wearing one big goofy grin! Super sweet, the whole kit and kaboodle! As for the ‘buying more new before the old has even had a chance to shine’ – yeppers, that’s me! I need to do an inventory to see who hasn’t had a play date (perhaps a summertime project). Now those dinos…only toooo adorable! Off to see what’s next…

Love your way with words, C! Please feel free to be English teacher-y whenever you like! 🙂 Thank you so much! Oh yeah, I think I need another look through the stamps. Let’s make this the summer (or in my case, winter) of using our older stamps! 🙂

I ddn’t say anything about it, but that dog looks indeed very cute 🙂
& I love Lawn fanw, these cards are awesome, but I’m more curious what you’re going to do with these dino’s 😀

Thanks so much, Ellen! He is cute, but I am biased. haha I’ve just posted a card using the first of the dinosaurs. 🙂

You did such a lovely job with all of them, Kylie! I can’t decide which one I like best.

I am totally with you about old vs new! I know everyone’s excited about the new stamps (so am I, for that matter), but there are so many older stamps just sitting in my stash that I bought with the intention to use them… It doesn’t help that I always feel slightly guilty when I post a card using a retired stamp, as I know someone out there will see it, fall madly in-love and then be disappointed that it’s gone forever…

Can’t wait to see what you’ll do with those super cute dinos!

Thanks so much, Elle! 🙂

It’s a constant battle, isn’t it? I think the same too about someone being disappointed about it not being available but then I think – maybe eBay will have it, or maybe someone else might have it gathering dust in their collection. I just do the best I can. 🙂
