Hello (Waffle Flower / Stitched Roses)

Hi Everyone, a few weeks ago a friend surprised me for my birthday with a gift voucher from Waffle Flower. I was so excited as, up to this point, I hadn’t used anything from Waffle Flower. The first item I just HAD to get was the Stitched Roses stamp set. It is such a clever, not to mention, pretty stamp set.

Now, I’m not too good at stamping with layered stamps, even with the use of a MISTI, but I really wanted to give this one a go. The MISTI made things so much easier but I have one tip which was incredibly helpful (and I *think* I saw it on the Waffle Flower website) and I am sure this is why I was able to do it so easily.

Here’s the tip…

Place the cardstock in the MISTI. Position the first (largest) stamp on the cardstock where you want it. Lower the MISTI lid and ink and stamp as usual. Next, remove ALL of the stamps from the index sheet. Position the index sheet over your stamped image and line up the image which is next to be stamped. When you are satisfied it is in the right position, place the magnets over the top to ensure it doesn’t shift. Place the corresponding stamp on top of the index sheet. It can be a little fiddly lining it up but it is certainly easier than eyeballing it. When you are happy the stamp is in the right place, lower the lid of the MISTI to pick it up. Remove the index sheet. Ink and stamp the image as per usual. Repeat this process until you have finished stamping all the layers of the image.

As I had never tried to stamp layered stamps using this method, I wasn’t fully convinced I was going to be able to get one suitable finished image. I stamped each layer four times so imagine my surprise, and relief when all four turned out perfectly! If you are anything like me and you have trouble with layered stamps, please try this hint, you will be surprised at how easy it makes the process. Of course, this now means I have four cards to share with you today. I tried to keep the card designs very simple to make the image shine.

For the first card, I simply die cut the image and popped it up with foam tape. Adding a few rhinestones gave the card the necessary bling.

The second card followed the basic design principle but with the taller sentiment stamp, I needed to use a larger die and liked the idea of having the panel butted up to the edge. I added some Wink of Stella to add just a little more shine.

For the next card, I had it in my head to create more of a table cloth look. The Blueprints 20 Die-namics die set from My Favorite Thing has a great chevron style die which I thought would be fun to use to create the edge. The only problem is that it cuts out the tiny dots but not the edge. I first tried to hand cut along the edge but it didn’t work too well. How I ended up getting a look that I was reasonably happy with was to tape the die cut in place, then die cut and then use a knife to cut along the edge of the die while it was still in place. It isn’t perfect but I don’t mind. I love how it looks. I didn’t have any pink cardstock which complemented the inks used. Instead, I grabbed an inkpad from the same colour family of inks used to stamp the image and coloured the cardstock directly.

Whilst I loved the softness of the pink cardstock in the above card, I wondered how it would look if I used one of the same inks I stamped with.
