Welcome Autumn

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Happy March and Happy Autumn! (Or happy Spring if you are in the northern hemisphere! I bet you are ready for the warmer weather to come!)

Yesterday I was struck down with another migraine. It knocked me out for half the day. When I started to resemble a human again, I decided to try and stamp. In the end I just grabbed a sheet of paper and stamped and coloured and didn’t really achieve anything. The ideas must have percolated over night because this morning I woke up with lots of ideas. I’ve only managed to get two of them onto paper so far and they are another example of “the same but different”.

Here’s the first card…

Welcome Autumn Materials used: Stamps - Autumn Groves (Paper Smooches); Cardstock - American Crafts; Designer Paper - 6x6 Paper Pad - Blast Off (Three Bugs in a Rug); Wise Dies - Clouds (Paper Smooches); Copic Markers; Distress Ink; Sugardot Stickers - Everyday Vintage (Prima).

I paper-pieced the entire thing. It was somewhat relaxing to fussy cut all those pieces and put them back together again. I really don’t know why I don’t paper piece more often. Adding this to the “to do” list.

I love the Autumn Groves stamp set by Paper Smooches and I am so glad I have finally made a card using some of the stamps from this set.

Edited to add: I just realised a new Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge has gone live and it is an Anything Goes challenge. Yep, must enter so I have split this post into two posts.

I am sorry to hear about your migraine. 🙁 Those are the worst! Your card is super duper cute! I just love the patterned papers and that scarecrow is adorable! It’s funny to think that in the Northern Hemisphere, we are eagerly awaiting some warmer temps while you might appreciate a cool down about now! 🙂
Thanks for sharing your talent with this week’s SPARKS challenge!

Thanks, Katie! I am happy to send some of our weather your way – although as I type this it is pouring with rain (it’s still warm though 20C/68F) and it is just after 8pm. Thanks for your sweet words too. Love playing along with Paper Smooches SPARKS challenges. 🙂

p.s. I’m so sorry to hear about your migraine. I get those and hate them! I know this is a bit off topic, but I have tried so many meds out there and the only one that seems to work for me is Migrin. I hope I’m not stepping on any toes mentioning meds on a craft blog, xxx. Big hugs and I hope you feel better soon. Becky

Thanks, Becky! Seems like a lot of us suffer with migraines. They really are horrid things, aren’t they? No, you haven’t stepped on any toes. Maybe it will help someone. 🙂 Thank you!! hugs!

I get awful migraines too! It’s really terrible when it knocks you out for a couple of days. And the worst is the occasional migraine “hangover”, where some of the symptoms linger just to remind you that you had a migraine recently. Hope you got plenty of rest!

I love the card! That’s one of the stamp sets I’ve been meaning to get, and yet I forget about it every time I go to place an order. I think my favorite part of your card is the colors. Very autumnal, yet bright enough to not look gloomy. The patches on the scarecrow are brilliant! They really tie in all of the colors of the card.

Oh Elle, aren’t they awful! I hope you haven’t suffered with them lately and I hope they leave you alone for a long, long time!! Hate them so much. Thank you so much for your lovely comments. You are so sweet! The stamp set is so great. You have to get it! I cannot wait to see what you’d come up with!! Thanks, Elle!

It’s funny to think that you’re welcoming autumn, while we’re trying to welcome spring, that appears to be taking a wee bit of time to appear! Today, we awoke to -39C, but the forecast is for 10C on Saturday. Perhaps spring will…spring! So sorry to hear about your migraine – yuck! – but on the plus side, once it left, your creativity sky-rocketed! How adorable is your scarecrow, keeping watch over his pumpkin patch. And the clouds in the background: perfect little additions! Another dazzle and delight card, Kylie…and double-yayyy that the Anything Goes challenge appeared! More showcase opportunity for your fabulous creativity! Hugs~c

I so hope spring springs soon. You need it! If I could send some of our warm weather over, I would. We have summer weather for the next couple of days. Thank you sooooo much, C, you always know just the right thing to say to encourage. 🙂 hugs!
