Just a Note…or three

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

I was feeling so inspired when I sat down to create tonight but somewhere along the way things went wrong; just minor inconveniences – smudging ink, colours running, etc…but enough to completely ruin the two cards I had been working on. Whilst I usually find creating to be relaxing and therapeutic – a place to lose yourself, you might say; tonight it was a cause of stress. Finally I realised I should just down tools and take a break.

So instead of sharing today’s creations I’ve delved back into the vault and have pulled out a quick and easy card to share. This card is so simple that I have made it quite a few times recently – I just change up the cardstock and patterned paper. It features another of those gorgeous little hedgehogs from Penny Black.

At the start of this post I had planned to only share one take on this card but now I’ve decided to share all three. I love seeing how the same card looks with different colours and thought you might too.

Card 1 – the one which started it all…

Just a Note Materials used: Stamps - Balloon Hedgehog 1720J (Penny Black), Sentiment Sampler (Paper Smooches); Cardstock - American Crafts, Knight; Distress Markers and Designer Paper - Kaiser Craft.

Card 2 – I ran out of the paper I used above and thought this one looked quite cute.

Card 3 – decided to see how a much brighter colour would look.

Just a Note - Take 3 Materials used: Stamps - Balloon Hedgehog 1720J (Penny Black), Sentiment Sampler (Paper Smooches); Cardstock - American Crafts, Knight; Distress Markers and Designer Paper - Surprise 6x6 Paper Pad (BoBunny).

Sometimes I do make the same card over and over. Usually there are little variations such as a different patterned paper, or sentiment, or I’ve coloured the image differently. I don’t actually think there is anything wrong with doing this. It enables you to practice and refine your skills and techniques. The recipients are usually different people so they don’t see that you’ve sent out the same cards. On those occasions where you feel you are lacking inspiration but you really want to create, making something you’ve previously done can kick start new ideas! Don’t be afraid to re-visit older ideas!

Happy Stamping!

You were right. I do love looking at all three of these sweet little cards. They are just darling. I’m in love with your little hedghog–he’s so cute. And I love the different effects the different dps have on each card. Well done, Kylie!
