Hey Chickie

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Ahhh….that’s better! The 10 minute cardmaking challenge was super fun this morning but I wanted to create the card that was in my head. This meant using slightly brighter colours, adding some clouds and some leaves. I had originally planned to keep the thought bubble but somewhere along the way that idea was changed. Not sure how or why. Was fun paper piecing rather than painting the images and I love the bright colours.

Hey Chickie Materials used: Stamps - Chubby Chums, Spring Groves, Summer Groves, Zoo Crew (Paper Smooches); Dies - Clouds (Paper Smooches); Cardstock - American Crafts, Knight; Hero Arts Shadow Ink - Bubble Gum (Hero Arts); Distress Markers (Ranger), and Glossy Accents (Ranger).

Sweet card, Kylie. Love all the bright colors and details you have in this fun card. You always make such delightful creations! And the little details…tiny heart, the layered wings….well done! Another great card in your collection of awesomeness!

Thank you, Bev! Was fun to use such bright strong colours. You are just the sweetest with you lovely compliments too. I very much appreciate them – I can’t begin to express just how much they mean to me.

Your comments on two recent posts – read FIRST thing (well, technically, second thing, as making coffee was #1) this morning – have added rays of sunshine that will shine all day long! THANK YOU for all the positive reinforcement; your applause always, always is extra special! My little cards are an attempt energize my creativity, as I haven’t been too proud of some of my ‘proper’ sized cards, of late. Little ones just seem more ‘do-able’ – plus they’re practice for making my next ‘big’ project: an October card for my niece. Hope the visuals in my mind translate well onto paper! How are you, dear friend? Hope all is well, and that we’ll see some of your awesome creations up soon!! Lots of hugs coming your way!!

You’re very welcome, Carol! I mean it all. You’re a gift! And, a talented artist too. I’m sorry you have been experiencing those doubts about your creativity lately. I go through that too. Just keep making things! Cannot wait to see your next “big” project. lol I just love seeing all your projects. Hopefully will have something to contribute myself in the next day or two. Thanks so much for checking in with me! You are such a dear friend. 🙂 xx

A-DOR-A-BLE!! Looks like the 10 Minute Challenge was the ‘practice run’ for this card and how cute, adorable and sweet this is!! Amazing paper-piecing (how do you ‘stay along the lines’ so well?? Awesome!), and a most darling scene! The wee heart – perfect special touch! LOVE this!! Now, if you have time (since our supplies are out and about!), check out the PS challenge: Florals. Maybe it will spark some paper-piecing or even some painting ideas. I’m stumped with this one at the moment but, will see what I can come up with (or not) in the next short while. Off to Calgary today to see the finale of the big bike race and meet up with my husband!! No chocolate cake (because then I’d need to make icing, which is so beyond my skill level. Lumpy icing = ick!) but cookies there are!! Have a FABULOUS day!!

Oh thank you! This is pretty much what was in my head for the other challenge, give or take a few things. I don’t often paper piece but it is fun. I think using images with thicker black lines helps because even when you cut crookedly you cannot really see that when you stick the piece down. Perhaps start there?

I ran out of time to participate in the PS Florals challenge. It ends while I am at work (how rude! lol). The time zone thing impacts me there. 🙂

Hope you have had an amazing time in Calgary (I’m so envious! Would love to go there) and a fantastic reunion with hubby. Bet he loves the choc chip cookies too. 🙂

Thanks so much for your wonderfully kind words, Carol! They mean so much to me!
