Hello Foxy

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Don’t forget the Giveaway is still open and I will select a winner on Saturday (AEST). Go here to enter – Happy Anniversary.

I whipped up todays card over the weekend. I was having second thoughts about whether to share it or not but decided to go ahead. The card has a number of flaws so it probably won’t make it into the “to send” pile. Some of the issues don’t appear overly visible in the photograph, which is nice. haha Please don’t get me wrong, I don’t think it is a horrible card, I can just see the areas which I really want to improve. 🙂

I have to say the stamps in this set are so wonderful to colour and I will be using it again very soon. I’ve already painted the little girl in a couple of different colour schemes (using Distress Markers) and she is just so pretty each time. I cannot wait to try copics too. The price point on these stamps is fantastic too. I think I saw them at Simon Says Stamp for US$7.49 and locally I thought they were a bargain at about AUD14.75 from Paper Squared. Not affiliated with either store (although I wish I was! haha) – just sharing my excitement at finding such nice stamps. They are red rubber cling stamps too, not clear stamps. They stamp up beautifully!

Oh, one of the issues I had with this card is that I kind of bounced one of the fox stamps and ended up with ink in the wrong place. I tried the solution often mentioned by Jennifer McGuire where you scratch the ink off and then use a white eraser over the area. It didn’t work for me. Maybe I was too heavy handed? Either way, the area in question is quite obvious to me.

The other thing I tried on this card was using the Tim Holtz Distress Marker Spritzer to create the mottled background. I need to play around with this a bit more. Think it has huge potential.

Here’s the card…

Hello, dear Kylie – first, apologies for late commenting, but internet issues continue to plague. Customer service: hahahaha! Ellie’s comments are so astute: sharing what “we” may think is a not-so-spectacular card offers opportunity for growth, for both the creator and those who admire. While you can identify ‘flaws’ in your card, and make plans for revisions, I see something splendid! The foxes are darling, and your girl is wonderfully cute, sporting her fashionable green dress. The expressions on the foxes’ faces – especially the one on the right (I think it’s giving us a “seriously???” look) – are priceless, as they wonder about the girl’s ‘foxy style.’ Fabulous card, my friend; in fact, I’m calling it “Gorjuss”!! Hugs~c

Gotta love technology – when it works! I hope your internet issues are soon resolved. Very frustrating. You are too kind in your observations and I, in return, will try not to be so critical….try! 🙂 Thank you! 🙂

Very sweet. This card evokes memories of some of my favorite Sci-Fi Fantasy books, which I’ve read and re-read over the years. This sweet little girl’s ears/headband so reminds me of an elf! Beautiful coloring as always. And I see no flaws what so ever my dear friend. Sorry I’m late in commenting. There are some low pressure centers trying to wreak havoc with my head, but I’m fighting! I love this card. I really do. Have a great weekend my friend. Bev

Big hugs and I hope the YKW’s hit the road and don’t hit you. They’re mean things. Thank you for your kind words. I love how you help us to focus on the good and not the not-so-good. hugs!

I love this card for 2 reasons.

First, I love the theme and the coloring. Foxes are so adorable, and you did such a clever job on coloring. My favorite is the green dress. Love the hue, and love the stars. I’ll have to check out that stamp for sure.

More importantly, I love this card because it doesn’t feel perfect to you. I think when it comes to sharing cards, we’re all tempted to just share the best stuff – things we’re happy with or proud of. But having failures, mishaps and just general cards you’re not happy with is a necessity. Having those experiences is a great way to grow. If you can figure out what went wrong or why you’re not happy, you can fix it. And by sharing this less-than-perfect or failed process, you’re helping someone else learn too.

So, thank you for sharing! And I hope you’ll continue sharing – whether they’re cards you adore or cards that need a bit more work. 🙂

Thanks Elle! It’s hard to know whether you should share the not-so-great cards but I think it helps others too – partly from a perspective of “yes, we all make duds”. haha I so appreciate your sweet words, Elle! Oh and do check out the Gorjuss stamps – they are…well, gorgeous. You’d rock colouring them with either your water colours or copics! 🙂
