Hello

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are all enjoying the weekend!

Inspired by Elle’s challenge I was flicking through my stamps looking at the sets I haven’t used yet (either the entire set, or just elements within the set) and saw the My Guy set from Paper Smooches.

I originally purchased this set for the car and the golf cart images (LOVE these) but haven’t done much with the other items. Looking at the set again I noticed…the boat. SQUEAL!! How had I never noticed that cute little stamp before?? Immediately a bunch of ideas ran through my head and then it all went horribly wrong. haha I sketched out the dominant idea and I thought it looked so cute but when I tried to make it happen I just couldn’t get it to work. I slept on the idea and this morning I tried again. It’s not a bad recreation of what my brain had designed. lol It’s not as wonky as the photo would suggest either. lol

I’ve decided that I might enter it into the Paper Smooches SPARKS Challenge blog’s Anything Goes challenge too as it certainly fits. haha

Hello
Materials used: Stamps – My Guy, Salutations (Paper Smooches); and Pastel Pencils (Bruynzeel).

I sketched out the landscape with the lake on which the boats could sail with Bruynzeel pastel pencils and then put a wash of water over to soften the lines. Popped this panel up with foam mounting tape and added it to my card base. I ummed and ahhed over which sentiment to use then settled on “hello” as you could really use this card for a number of different occasions.

Thanks for stopping by today. Hope you have a great day!

Happy Stamping!

Goodness, sweet friend, I am, again, woefully behind in commenting, even though I gazed at this darling scene while we were in Oregon! The sketchy internet was too weird, and alas, my comments experience ‘sticking’ haphazardness! Here I am, though, clasping my hands in glee at your most inspired, lovely, ‘signature style scene creating expertise’ card! Utterly beautiful – and yes, those wee sailboats are incredibly charming! Gorgeous colouring (new pencils?), a serene landscape, and a trio of pretty boats…happy sighhhhhh…

Oh thank you, C! Isn’t sketchy internet the pits?! I’m way too reliant on it these days. 🙂 Thank you soo much for your sweet words. I used the Inktense pencils. I’ve had them a little while but rarely use them. Oops! Don’t know why as they are really easy to use. 🙂

What a beautiful landscape! It looks like the My Guy sailboat was just made for this little scene! Thank you so much for sharing your creativity with the Paper Smooches SPARKS challenge!

Wow, what a gorgeous background! And you make it sound so deceptively easy… It would take me ages and many tries to get something to look as pretty. 😛

I love the boats! I also overlooked them on the stamp, but they’re absolutely darling.

Thanks, Elle! It came together pretty easily…once I stopped overthinking things. I bet you’d have no trouble at all – you’re gifted!! 🙂

There are so many little things on these stamp sets that it is easy to overlook at them. Your challenge really has inspired me to look a little closer so I thank you for that!
