Argh! and Happy Birthday!

by Kylie

Hi Everyone,

I had stamped up a couple of copies of the Lovely Bubbly stamp from Penny Black and had thoroughly enjoyed colouring them in. I had chosen this stamp to make a birthday card for one of my closest friends for her 40th birthday. I thought it would be cute. Anyway, I coloured both copies because I wasn’t sure about shading, colour selection, etc but was pleasantly surprised with how they came up. I had them sitting on the table for a couple of days while I worked out how to turn them into a card. The first attempt looked completely wrong. I added ribbons, embossed cardstock, tried different patterned papers, different colours of cardstock, even rounded corners of the image. I stamped up different sentiments on scrap paper and tested different looks. Finally I decided on a very simple and classic look. I inked up my stamp, positioned it in what I thought was the perfect spot, pressed the stamp to the paper, lifted it up and…..I somehow completed messed up the position. ARGH! I’m still not sure how I did it. lol

Here’s what happened.

Oops...the sentiment isn't exactly in the right spot. Can it be fixed?

I’m thinking I might just stamp the image on another sheet of paper and make it into a banner then stick it over the top. The reason I haven’t is because I really didn’t want to cover up the bottom of the stamped image. We shall see…

So, after the hiccup above I was left with my original stamped I had cut right down to nothing. I tried a few different things but finally settled on the below. It’s a little more blocky than I would have liked but I ran out of time to do much more.

Happy Birthday Materials used: Stamps - Lovely Bubbly 2099K (Penny Black), F4K Happy Birthday #1 (Crafty Kids); Designer Paper (Bo Bunny Press); Cardstock - American Crafts, Knight; Distress Markers; Glossy Accents (Ranger) and Rhinestones (KAISERCraft).

I added a little stamped section inside the card too. Thought you might like to see…

I really want to colour this image again and try and make a less blocky card. It’s definitely hibernate inside weather at the moment. Perfect stamping weather! Hope you are all having a wonderful day! Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Stamping!

Again, I’m in awe of your creativity! Where you see a ‘blocky’ card, I see a card that is gorgeous, stunning and made with your friend’s birthday in mind! From the colouring (stellar!), to the layout (works wonderfully!), to the inside image (darling cuteness+++), this will be a most treasured gift, because it truly is amazing! I think you should find a way to showcase it – and many others – on the Penny Black site. Eye-catching and lovely!
My husband’s race starts today, beginning at 1:30 pm, during the hottest part of the day. I’m nervous; he’s not…go figure. Hope my ‘passing water bottles in the feed zone’ is in tip top shape!
Have an excellent day; happy stamping and colouring! Looking forward to what beautiful creations you’ll share next!

Thanks, Carol! It’s funny how we see things differently. It’s all part of the fun, isn’t it? Such a cute image to colour. Loved it!

Hope your husband has been having a successful race. He’s not nervous because he’s done all the training. 🙂 Hope you are enjoying it all.

Hope you have a fantastic day, C!
