Life is Good

by Kylie

Hi everyone,

Wow, doesn’t time pass by so quickly? It seems unbelievable to me that I haven’t posted since May but what is even more unbelievable to me is that I hadn’t actually created anything during this time. There are many reasons as to why but I am hopeful they are all behind me for now. I have taken advantage of a few sales during this time and picked up some lovely new supplies. I am delighted to finally be able to share something new!

When I first received the Lawn Fawn stamp set “Life is Good” I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it…and yet what I ended up with was quite different and I LOVE it. lol Funny how this happens! I started by creating the little scene (we all know how much I love scenes) and then it crossed my mind how fun it would be to be looking out a porthole and coming across an island paradise. I jumped onto the Silhouette store and found a cute porthole shape and from there the idea began to come alive.

Here’s the card…

Life is Good Materials Used: Stamps - Life is Good (Lawn Fawn); Lawn Cuts - Spring Showers (Lawn Fawn); Die - Porthole (Silhouette); Patterned Paper - Unknown; Copic Markers; Distress Ink; and Glossy Accents.

You might have noticed that there isn’t a greeting – I’ll add this when I send the card because I am not sure how or when I will use it at this stage.

I loved this idea so much that I went on to create another two versions. There are only a few differences and I have to say I love each look.

Here’s card two…I used grey cardstock for the porthole and I also popped it up. The basic scene is the same.

Here’s card three…I used a much larger porthole, popped it up, used a hammock instead of the crab and also added a sentiment.

Life is Good Materials Used: Stamps - Life is Good (Lawn Fawn); Lawn Cuts - Spring Showers (Lawn Fawn); Die - Porthole (Silhouette); Patterned Paper - Unknown; Copic Markers; Distress Ink; and Wink of Stella - Clear.

Ahhh, it is soooo good to be creating again!

Edited to add: Have any of you seen any archery type stamp sets? My youngest nephew is having an archery party for his birthday mid-month and I thought I would create a card keeping with the theme…if I could find a stamp set. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. 🙂 Thanks! 🙂

Thanks for stopping by today.

Happy Stamping!

This card popped up on my Lawn Fawn FB feed a couple of days ago! So awesome to see that Lawn Fawn loves your amazing cards as much as the rest of us do. 😀

Ack!! I’m light years behind in EVERYTHING, and while that’s ‘acceptable’ in the realms of laundry piling up, and dust bunnies reproducing, and craft zones being mess-fests, it is NOT acceptable in writing comments to YOU! My apologies (and I promise to stand myself in the corner for a while after I catch up!). Oh, dear friend, I’ll echo Bev and Elle: missed you x a kazillion! Hope that ‘whatever’ you needed to put behind you stays behind! Your absence left a vacuum in the inspiration, creativity and talent in my world! You are, however, back and wow, wow, and wow – what a trio of darling scenes you’ve created! These little gems need to be showcased for sure!! Bev mentioned The Cutting Edge (oh yeah, winner, winner with these!!), and I’ll add: TIME OUT – fun in the sun challenge, Paper Crafting Challenges: Anything Goes; Virginia’s View: Die Cuts and I’m sure there’s a few more where “summer fun” is featured. Quickly…scope these out and add away! As I’ve said before: such awesomeness warrants a wider audience! Love these!! Once the ‘hectic-ness’ settles down (niece, nephew, my sister-in-law and her mom are due to arrive today….staying until Friday or Saturday…yayyyy! Then we’re working a bike race all weekend, and planning to head to Oregon for my husband to race the beginning the 18th. We’re just back yesterday from a few days with his family, still have to wrap up work and blah, blah, blah! Enough whining…I’ll be in touch soon. Right now, skipping off to see your next sweet creations! Mega hugs~c

Oh C, I can totally relate. It’s okay! Thank you soooo much for your lovely words. You know they mean the world to me. You and Bev always know about the best challenges. How do you keep up? Hope you have a FANTASTIC time with the family. YAY!!! hugs!!

‘Bout darn time you came back to inspire us with your amazing creations, young lady! lol. It’s soooo good to see you back! And your trio of cards are just a treat! Love these little porthole cards. Makes me want to hit the beach! These really are good. And since you like your Silhouette, you should check out the new Cutting Edge challenge that Jackie Rockwell created. Use dies of any type… You’d be a big winner for sure!! Don’t you dare stay away so long! Missed you too much. : )

Bev, you made me smile from ear to ear. Thank you soo much. It is nice to be missed. I will see if I can find that challenge you mention too. I’ve missed you too, by the way. hugs!!

Ooh, I love all three! What a clever idea to make it look like a port hole. I wish I’d thought of that first! 😀 Of the three, I think the middle one is my favorite. There’s just something about the contrast between the gray and the white that makes everything pop.

There is one Avery Elle stamp set that I think would work amazingly for archery: http://www.averyelle.com/aim-high-clear-photopolymer-stamps/
It’s got a birthday message (bonus!) and lots of arrows.

I’m so glad to see you back in the crafty world! I’ve really missed seeing your creations. *hugs*

lol Thanks so much, Elle! 🙂 I think I agree with you. It definitely needed that bit of pop and definition. Thanks for the tip about the Avery Elle stamp set, I will check it out. 🙂 And, THANK YOU, that made me feel super good. hugs!
